What is homelessness to you?

“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”- Mother Teresa

In this quote describing homelessness, I feel like Mother Teresa is trying to explain the multiple layers of homelessness, not just the stereotype. Child homelessness also becomes involved in this quote. When a child is unwanted, unloved, and uncared for, they feel like they do not belong in their own home and run away. We may not see them, but there are 1 million to 3 million runaway and homeless kids living on the streets in the United States today. This quote can be interpreted in many ways. What do you think? What does this quote mean to you?
